ISABELLE AUBIN
Photography
Isabelle Aubin was born in Montreal, Quebec, and entered the world as Alexandra Aubin, a model whose quiet presence and striking gaze carried her across continents. Her career unfolded before the lenses of some of the era’s most influential photographers, including Richard Avedon, Irving Penn, and Guy Bourdin—experiences that left a lasting imprint on her artistic sensibility.
Even in those early years, her attention was drawn behind the camera. Traveling with a Polaroid close at hand, she documented fragments of life between castings, flights, and hotel rooms. What began instinctively evolved into a deeper photographic practice.
Her visual language was further shaped under the mentorship of Mary Ellen Mark, whose guidance opened new ways of seeing—direct, human, and unguarded. Isabelle Aubin is currently working on a forthcoming book, an intimate archive of images and memories drawn from a life lived both in front of the lens and, more truthfully, behind it.
