ANTOINE VERGLAS

Photography

Born in Paris in 1962, Antoine Verglas is a New York–based photographer renowned for redefining fashion imagery in the 1990s through a candid, documentary-style approach. After studying at the E.S.C. School of Business and working briefly in television—hosting the youth program Cinq sur Cinq and interviewing figures such as Sharon Stone—Verglas discovered photography while shooting his then-partner, Ford model Catherine Ahnell. He relocated to New York City in 1990 to pursue photography professionally.

Verglas rose to prominence through intimate portraits of supermodels including Claudia Schiffer, Stephanie Seymour, Tatjana Patitz, and Cindy Crawford, published in international editions of Elle. His natural-light, unguarded style—now widely known as the “Verglas Signature”—stood in contrast to the highly staged fashion imagery of the era.

His work has since appeared in leading publications such as Vogue, GQ, Esquire, Maxim, Sports Illustrated, and Playboy, alongside major commercial campaigns for brands including Victoria’s Secret, Revlon, and Maybelline. Verglas’s photography continues to be celebrated for its authenticity, immediacy, and effortless connection with the subject.
